After School Sports Clubs



At Spooner Row we offer a wide range of after school sports clubs. These provide opportunites for children to try new sports and are also a stepping stone to enable them to join local sports clubs and take part in school games competitions.

The following after school clubs are offered:

Monday - Athletics incorporating speed and agility. 





The SAQ continuum is used to help children improve coordination, speed and agility. The focus is on improving the basic body movements for sport. Children also practice jumping and throwing together with the sports hall athletics events. The sessions are run by Mr House who is a qualified athletics coach and also coaches at Attleborough Athletics Academy.


Tuesday - Gymnastics - Key Stage 1




Children are taught the basics of gymnastics covering balancing, travelling and jumping. The sessions also include developing and performing floor routines and vaults. These sessions support children to take part in the annual schools gymnastics competition which Spooner Row has previously won with the school going on to represent Norfolk Schools in the Eastern Region Competition. The sessions are run by Mr House who is a qualified gymnastics coach.

Wednesday  - Gymnastics - Key Stage 2

Wednesday - Football - Key Stage 1




Children are taught the basic skills for football through modified games. These sessions are run by Mr Dwyer who s a qualified football coach and high school PE teacher.

Thursday - Football - Key Stage 2




Children are taught the basic skills for defending and attacking . All sessions conclude with a match where children can practice the skills they have learned. The matches generally have modifed rules to encourage children to focus on the target skill for the session. These sessions are run by Mr House who is a qualified football coach.

Thursday - Multiskills - Key Stage 1

Children practice the fundimental movement skills for sport e.g. throwing, catching, evasion etc using fun games. These sessions are run by Mrs Newbery.


Friday - Rugby - Key Stage 2




These sessions cover non contact tag and touch rugby. Children are taught the basic skills for defending and attacking . All sessions conclude with a match where children can practice the skills they have learned. The matches generally have modifed rules to encourage children to focus on the target skill for the session. These sessions are run by Mr House who is a qualified rugby union and touch rugby coach. He also runs the juniors section at Norwich Rebels Touch Rugby Club.
