Image
On Friday 30th November nine schools and more than two hundred children took part in the Wymondham Cluster swimming gala at Wymondham Leisure Centre. Spooner Row entered twenty three children into the competition. The children performed really well in their heats achieveing nine first places and ten second places. As well as some great individual performances Spooner Row also achieved first place in their year 4 freestyle and medley relay race heats. There were two heats for each race and qualification for the South Norfolk Gala was based on race times. Congratulations to the three children from Spooner Row that qualified to represent the Wymondham Cluster.  Winner's medals were presented at a whole school reward assembly Well done to all children that took part. Thanks to Ian Constance and the Wymondham High School Sports Leaders for organising and running the gala. Thanks also to our parent helpers Mrs Sparkes and Mr Saint.

South Norfolk Cross Country Competition

Seven runners from Spooner Row qualified to take part in the South Norfolk Cross Country Competition at Old Buckenham on November 7th. The competition was for children from large and small schools that had qualified from their clusters to take part. It was a very strong competition. Spooner Row runners achieved the best results the school has ever had in this competition. Three Spooner Row children qualified for the Norfolk finals by finishing in the top ten and two others only just missed out by finishing eleventh. Our year four boy actually won his race with an amazing performance.    The excellent lunchtime coaching from Mrs Baker and Mrs Sparkes has really paid off. Who is that with the cheesy grin? First place in the year 4 race. Well done!

Girl's Football Competition - October 2018

We entered two teams into the South Norfolk girl's football competition at Goals in Norwich. Our Year 5/6 team had some great results including an 8-0 win, a couple of hat tricks and one girl scored 4 goals in one game (when she was meant to be defending!).  They finished fifth overall. Our year 3/4 team did even better by winning their final 5-0, finishing in first place and qualifying for the Norfolk School Winter Games. This was a brilliant result as there were some very large schools in the competition.  Two Spooner Row girls also won awards for fairplay and good sportsmanship.

Touch Rugby European Championship Visit

Two teams from Spooner Row were invited to the 2018 European Touch Rugby Championships in Nottingham. We had a brilliant day playing in a schools tournament and meeting lots of England international players. The highlight of the day was being the mascots and guard of honor for the men's senior England team for their game against France which was shown live on BBC television.
