Norfolk School Games Cross Country Finals

Day 6 of the 2019 Norfolk School Games Winter Finals took place at Holkham Hall. The final day of the Winter Games schedule saw 640 young runners, from 158 schools, come together to take part in the Norfok School Games cross country finals.

Each of the participants had qualified to represent their local School Sports Partnership (SSP) by taking part in a two prior qualifying competition. Each SSP team included 80 runners made up of 10 boys and 10 girls from each of year groups (3/4/5/6).

Three children from Spooner Row qualified for this competition.

The final placings were:

Wymondham Cluster Tag Rugby Tournament

Spooner Row entered two teams into the Wymondham Cluster Tag rugby tournament that was held at Wymondham Rugby Club on Monday 25th February.

Both teams played extremely well. Spooner Row's team B didn't lose any of their seven games and finished in second place which means they will go through to the South Norfolk tournament on 22nd May. Team A also did very well finishing just behind team B in third place but sadly just missed out on qualifying for the next round.

The last (and best) game of the day was between Spooner Row's A and B teams. Both teams were desperate to win. The final score in this fantastic game was 6 all.

Thanks to parent helpers Mrs Sparkes and Mrs Saint.

Thanks also to Mrs Wells for her brilliant coaching of team A and  her photography support.

Special thanks to Ian Constance for planning and delivering the tournament and the Wymondham College Sports Leaders for their excellent refereeing.

Norfolk Panathlon Challenge

Two children from Spooner Row were selected to represent South Norfolk at the Norfolk Panathlon Challenge that was held at the UEA SportsPark. The Panathlon Challenge is a national charity which provides sporting opportunities for over 7,500 young people each year.

Both children had a brilliant morning trying out a range of different games.

They also joined the Spooner Row gymnastics team to try out the fantastic facilities at the Sports Park.

Norfolk School Games Key Stage 1 Gymnastics Winners

90 Year 1 and 2 boys and girls from across the County competed in the Norfolk School Games Key Stage 1 Keysteps Gymnastics Final on Tuesday 12th February 2019 at the UEA Sports Park. Spooner Row's team qualified by winning the South Norfolk competition to represent the South Norfolk School Sport Partnership.

The Children had a brilliant morning as they were given coaching on the bars, beams, tumble track and trampoline. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience of exploring the various pieces of equipment and learning new skills.

Spooner Row put in an amazing performance of their routine and were proud winners of the Gold Medal. This was an outstanding achievement especially as we're such a small school.

The children's achievement was celebrated at the weekly whole school reward assembly.

Thanks to Mrs Newbery for her superb coaching and to parent helper Mrs Wright for the excellent photographs.

The winning routine.

South Norfolk Gymnastics Competition

Spooner Row entered two teams into the Key Stage 1 South Norfolk Gymnastics competition at TNAG in Besthorpe.

The children really enjoyed trying out the excellent facilities at TNAG

One of Spooner Row's teams won the competition with their brilliant routine. The other team very narrowly missed out on third place.

The winning Spooner Row team go on to represent South Norfolk at the Norfolk School Games finals.

Norfolk School Games Girls Football Finals

Our Year 3 and 4 girls team qualified for the Norfolk School Games finals by winning the South Norfolk Tournament before Christmas.

The team played really well and had some very close games against tough opposition. They finished the tournament in 14th place which is quite an achievement as they were up against some very big schools from across Norfolk.

One Spooner Row player was given a special award at the end of the competition for her determination. She had never played in a football competition before but did amazingly well.

As ever, the Spooner Row team was very well supported. Thanks to those parents and carers that cheered on the team throughout the tournament.

Thanks also to Mrs Wells for her coaching expertise.
