Cluster Quad Athletics Years 3,4 & 5

18 children from years 3,4 & 5 took part in the Wymondham Cluster Quad Athletics competition on Monday 20th May 2019. The competition was held at Wymondham High School. The competition included four events: Howler throw.  Standing long jump. Sprint and 400/600m races There were also relay sprints. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the morning. The results will be published when available. Thanks to Ian Constance for organising the event and to the Wymondham High School Sports Leaders for their support. Any children wishing to try athletics can do so at Attleborough Athletics Academy. Training sessions are currently held at Gaymers Meadow Attleborough on Saturdays at 09:00 and Mondays at 19:00. South Norfolk Year 3 and 4 Tennis Winners

On Monday 20th May, 12 children from year 3 and 4 took part in the South Norfolk tennis competition at Easton College. Spooner Row entered 3 teams. As you can see from the photos, the Spooner Row children played brilliantly. In fact they played so well that the three Spooner Row teams finished in first, second and fifth place. Two Spooner Row teams have qualified for the Norfolk School Games. This is an amazing achievement for such a small school. Thanks to Mrs Newbery and Mrs Bradley for their expert coaching.

Year 3 & 4 tag Rugby Festival

On Wednesday 15th May, nine children from Badger Class took part in the South Norfolk Tag Rugby Festival. In the morning the children participated in three coaching sessions. Each session was designed to develop a different part of the game. The sessions were led by coaches from Wymondham Rugby Club who also allowed their magnificent new clubhouse and pitches to be used. The sessions were supported by Sports Leaders from Wymondham College. In the afternoon there was a tournament that was officiated superbly by the Wymondham College Sports Leaders. The Spooner Row team (including four children playing in their first tournament) played brilliantly  winning all of their four games. They scored a total of 25 tries and only conceded 4. Year 3 & 4 Racketpack Badminton Festival

On Monday 13th May, ten children from Badger Class took part in the Racketpack Badminton festival at Wymondham Leisure Centre. The children tried a range of activities designed to develop the individual skills for badminton. They had lots of fun at this non competitive event which was delivered by Badminton England and supported by the excellent sports leaders from Wymondham High School. Can we have some chairs please? Year 3 & 4 Kwik Cricket Festival

On Thursday 9th May, 10 children from Badger Class attended a cricket festival at Hethersett & Tas Valley Cricket Club. Coaches from Norfolk County Cricket and sports leaders from Long Stratton High School ran a series of games aimed at developing the various skills required for cricket. The Spooner Row Children had a great afternoon and all improved their cricket skills. When all the point were totalled up from the games, Spooner Row were the highest points scorers of all the schools that took part. Thanks to the coaches from Norfolk County Cricket, sports leaders from Long Stratton High School and organiser Phil Lambert for a brilliant afternoon of cricket. Our local cricket clubs at Great Melton, Great Ellingham and Old Buckenham. All these clubs have excellent junior sections.
