Year 3 & 4 tag Rugby Festival



On Wednesday 15th May, nine children from Badger Class took part in the South Norfolk Tag Rugby Festival.



In the morning the children participated in three coaching sessions. Each session was designed to develop a different part of the game. The sessions were led by coaches from Wymondham Rugby Club who also allowed their magnificent new clubhouse and pitches to be used. The sessions were supported by Sports Leaders from Wymondham College.




In the afternoon there was a tournament that was officiated superbly by the Wymondham College Sports Leaders.

The Spooner Row team (including four children playing in their first tournament) played brilliantly  winning all of their four games. They scored a total of 25 tries and only conceded 4.

Children wanting to try rugby can do so at Wymondham Rugby Club when the season starts in October or try touch rugby now with Norwich Rebels and Mr House at weekly training sessions at Eaton Park Norwich between 10am and 11am every Sunday (May to October).

At Spooner Row we offer a wide range of after school sports clubs. These provide opportunites for children to try new sports and are also a stepping stone to enable them to join local sports clubs and take part in school games competitions. The following after school clubs are offered: Monday - Athletics incorporating speed and agility.  The SAQ continuum is used to help children improve coordination, speed and agility. The focus is on improving the basic body movements for sport. Children also practice jumping and throwing together with the sports hall athletics events. Wymondham Cluster Tag Rugby Tournament

Spooner Row entered two teams into the Wymondham Cluster Tag rugby tournament that was held at Wymondham Rugby Club on Monday 25th February. Team A Team B Both teams played extremely well. Spooner Row's team B didn't lose any of their seven games and finished in second place which means they will go through to the South Norfolk tournament on 22nd May. Team A also did very well finishing just behind team B in third place but sadly just missed out on qualifying for the next round. The last (and best) game of the day was between Spooner Row's A and B teams. Both teams were desperate to win. The final score in this fantastic game was 6 all. Cluster Cross Country

On 8th October, nine children from Key Stage 2 took part in the Wymondham Cluster cross country competition at Wymondham High School . The event was very well attended with around thirty children in each race. Spooner Row's runners did incredibly well with two first places and two second places. Seven out of our nine runners qualified for the South Norfolk competition by finishing in the top ten. The other two children only missed out by a few places. Year 3 First Place Year 4 First Place
