South Norfolk Cross Country Competition



Eight children from Spooner Row qualified to represent the Wymondham Cluster at the South Norfolk Competition on Tuesday 5th November at Old Buckenham Country Park. The conditions were perfect and the Spooner Row team did incredibly well.

Spooner Row helped the Wymondham Cluster to win the team competition.


Thanks to Mrs Baker and Mrs Sparkes for their coaching expertise. Thanks also to all the parents that came along to encourage the children.

The event was brilliantly planned and delivered by South Norfolk School Games Organiser Laura Goodswen.

At Spooner Row we offer a wide range of after school sports clubs. These provide opportunites for children to try new sports and are also a stepping stone to enable them to join local sports clubs and take part in school games competitions. The following after school clubs are offered: Monday - Athletics incorporating speed and agility.  The SAQ continuum is used to help children improve coordination, speed and agility. The focus is on improving the basic body movements for sport. Children also practice jumping and throwing together with the sports hall athletics events. The sessions are run by Mr House who is a qualified athletics coach and also coaches at Attleborough Athletics Academy. Tuesday - Gymnastics - Key Stage 1 Children are taught the basics of gymnastics covering balancing, travelling and jumping. Cluster Cross Country

On 8th October, nine children from Key Stage 2 took part in the Wymondham Cluster cross country competition at Wymondham High School . The event was very well attended with around thirty children in each race. Spooner Row's runners did incredibly well with two first places and two second places. Seven out of our nine runners qualified for the South Norfolk competition by finishing in the top ten. The other two children only missed out by a few places. Year 3 First Place Year 4 First Place

Wymondham Cluster Tag Rugby Tournament

Spooner Row entered two teams into the Wymondham Cluster Tag rugby tournament that was held at Wymondham Rugby Club on Monday 25th February. Team A Team B Both teams played extremely well. Spooner Row's team B didn't lose any of their seven games and finished in second place which means they will go through to the South Norfolk tournament on 22nd May. Team A also did very well finishing just behind team B in third place but sadly just missed out on qualifying for the next round. The last (and best) game of the day was between Spooner Row's A and B teams. Both teams were desperate to win. The final score in this fantastic game was 6 all. Thanks to parent helpers Mrs Sparkes and Mrs Saint.
